Scriptnetics announces the development of medical UMPC application.

Scriptnetics today announced they are developing a prescription writing program, RxScribbler, for the Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC.) This announcement makes BrunMed the first healthcare software provider to embrace the UMPC to meet the needs of a changing prescription writing and tracking market.

“The UMPC solves a number of problems the regulatory and market changes are demanding for physician prescription writing. A PDA is not robust enough to handle the information management requirements and a Tablet PC has drawbacks in size and price for a single application use. RxScribbler on the UMPC fits neatly into the gap.” stated Michael Milne, CEO of Scriptnetics.

RxScribbler will have many features not currently available in one product and will be unique in accepting handwriting as embedded into the application. Other unique features include allowing doctors to access drug interactions for 40,000 drugs including over-the counter (OTC) products, managing complete patient histories and printing directly to a network printer or faxing.

Ultra-Mobile PCs are an exciting new category of devices that will give a full PC experience that fits in the hands. UMPCs operate on a full version of Windows XP Tablet PC Edition software, are lightweight and designed to meet multiple information and technology needs with a seven-inch screen that is both touch and handwriting enabled.

RxScribbler is an out-growth of BrunMed`s electronic medical record (EMR) software, Medscribbler, that was the first in its class to be designed and built for the Tablet PC with embedded handwriting for patient record and document management. Medscribbler will include the new features of RxScribbler and the ability to use RxScribbler as an add-on module.

Scriptnetics plans to announce more details, new UMPC partnerships, as well as release dates, in the near future.
